Religion and integration from a legal viewpoint The book «Religion und Integration aus der Sicht des Rechts» has just been published. This work explores all the legal issues surrounding religion and integration. The authors show, for example, that religion doesn't necessarily hinder integration, but is one of many factors that come into play in the integration process. The book is the result of a one-day legal conference that took place in September 2009 in Fribourg, organized by professor René Pahud de Mortanges ias part of PNR 58. Order the book | |

Manual «Religionsrecht. Eine Einführung in das jüdische, christliche und islamische Recht» This book is a comparative introduction to Jewish, Roman Catholic, Protestant and Islamic rights – a first in the German-speaking world. The sources, historical evolution, and institutions as well as the specific areas covered by each religious judicial system are presented. The book, written in an open academic style, is geared for students and researchers in the fields of law, religious studies, and theology, as well as all those interested in ecumenical and interfaith issues. This book was published in early 2010 by authors René Pahud de Mortanges (member of the Steering Committee), Petra Bleisch Bouzar, David Bollag and Christian R. Tappenbeck. PNR 58 to present two synthesis projects The PNR 58 Steering Committee presented, during its interim report meeting November 2998 in Fribourg, the two synthesis projects that will conclude the research programme. • The first synthesis, “Religions, the State, and Society”, proposes a transversal vision of PNR 58 and the scientific results that were obtained. • The second synthesis, “The Role of Religions in the Establishment of Values in Switzerland” which will be published in book form in the first half of 2012, has as its goal an explanation of the connection between religion and values, if such a connection exists. This second synthesis will also be based on quantitative and qualitative research results from PNR 58. The first synthesis will be written by the PNR58 Steering Committee, based on a questionnaire addressed to each research group and meetings with the groups. The second synthesis will be managed by professors Christoph Bochinger, President of the PNR 58 Steering Committee, et Jörg Stolz. What is religion? On February 23, 2009, the Conference «Concepts» took place at the Swiss National Science Foundation. The present researchers discussed the term religion and its definition and confirmed to use one single vocabulary within the NRP 58. The program and the contributions are not available in English.
