Orthodox religious communities in Switzerland: reasons for their successful integration

The Orthodox religious community is numerically the fourth largest in Switzerland. Yet astonishingly little is known about it. Second and third generation Tibetans in Switzerland

This project studies the significance of religion to the way in which immigrant communities in Switzerland develop an identity, taking the Tibetan community in exile as an example. At the core of the study will be the question of to what extent the teachings, practices and festivals of Tibetan Buddhism serve as a source of individual and community orientation among second and third generation Tibetan exiles in Switzerland.
